Meet Joe & Sharon
Strong Oaks Goldendoodles is a family-owned breeding program nestled on over 12 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Morganton, North Carolina — and the story behind it is one built on decades of love, dedication, and a genuine passion for dogs.
Joe began training dogs professionally in 1992, developing a deep understanding of canine behavior, health, and temperament that most breeders simply can’t match. That foundation led Joe and Sharon to Goldendoodles over 15 years ago, and they haven’t looked back since.
High School Sweethearts, Lifelong Partners
Joe and Sharon met in high school and have been building their life together ever since. Together they’ve raised four children — now ranging in age from 10 to 31 — and are proud grandparents to four grandchildren. Dogs have always been at the center of their family, and that’s exactly how their puppies are raised.
How We Raise Our Puppies
Every Strong Oaks puppy is born inside our family home, surrounded by the everyday sounds and warmth of a busy household from day one. During those critical first weeks, our puppies are held, loved, and exposed to family life — children, grandchildren, and all the activity that makes a well-adjusted dog.
At around five weeks of age, our puppies move into our dedicated puppy building — a purpose-built space designed entirely around their development. Here they have access to a doggie door leading directly outside, where they quickly learn to go potty on their own. By the time your puppy comes home, they already have a head start on one of the hardest parts of puppyhood.
Our 12+ acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains give our dogs the room to run, explore, and thrive in a clean, beautiful environment — and it shows in the confidence and temperament of every puppy we raise.
Our Promise to Your Family
We Embark DNA test all of our parent dogs, and we back every puppy with a 5-year health guarantee — one of the strongest offered by any Goldendoodle breeder in the Southeast. When you bring home a Strong Oaks puppy, you’re not just getting a dog. You’re getting over 30 years of expertise, a family that cares deeply about every animal we raise, and a breeder who will be there for you for the life of your dog.
We’d love to get to know your family. If you have questions or are ready to take the next step, we’d love to hear from you.
